Although I skydive all of the time, it’s not lost on me that this is a big event and I'll walk you through the entire process from training to leaving the airplane all the way to landing! I want this to be one of the greatest adventures you’ll have in your life!

Dr. Mathews is the Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) Student Program Director as well as a Tandem Instructor at Skydive Tecumseh (SDT). Skydive Tecumseh is Michigan’s #1 longest-running drop zone. Established in 1964, SDT has been helping Michiganders experience the joy of human flight for over 50 years! At Skydive Tecumseh we recognize that skydiving is intimidating. Our job is to remove that intimidation as much as possible and make sure you feel welcome and part of our community.

We’ve recently moved from our original Tecumseh location to a new, more central location in Napoleon, MI. Our brand new skydiving facility located at 8607 Cady Road, Jackson, MI 49201 is ideally situated to serve the Detroit, Ann Arbor, Toledo, Jackson, and Lansing metropolitan areas. Having been based in Tecumseh for 50 years, we didn’t want to change the name of our business with such a storied past. Though we are located at the Napoleon Airport, we want to keep the identity that we built through five decades, so welcome to SkydiveTecumseh v.2

TWO DIFFERENT OPTIONS FOR FIRST-TIME SKYDIVERS

So you’re ready to experience human flight? Awesome! You’re going to love it! If this will be your first time skydiving, you’ll be able to choose from two different methods at Skydive Tecumseh. Each method is sanctioned and approved by the USPA to assure the highest level of personal safety for you, the first-time skydiver.

No matter which method you choose, you can rest assured that you’ll have the time of your life, and you’ll have gained an experience that you’ll never forget!

TANDEM SKYDIVE

Feel the rush of a skydive without the extensive training involved with becoming certified! Tandem skydiving is by far the most common and popular method for your first skydive and Skydive Tecumseh offers jumps from 9,000′, 14,000′, and 18,000′ altitudes. A tandem skydive is our recommended method to experience human flight for the first time. With less than an hour of training, you will be ready to take your first skydive, harnessed to one of our USPA-Certified professional instructors! You (and all your friends!) will be able to do your training and jump on the same day.

A tandem skydive at Skydive Tecumseh can take you higher than any other dropzone in Michigan, up to 18,000ft! At that height, you’ll get over a full minute of freefall!

ACCELERATED FREE FALL (AFF)

AFF is the best of both worlds. You will experience the thrill of freefall from full altitude and be able to control and land your own parachute! With an AFF jump, you’ll exit the plane with two instructors who will help guide you through your jump, then fly your parachute back to the ground and land it by yourself.

An AFF skydive is also the first jump in the AFF Training Progression, should you decide to pursue your own skydive license! (First Jump Course is required.)
